I always print them in the orientation that hides rougher edges (usually on the back or underside). Most surfaces can be lightly sanded if desired, and some pieces may arrive lightly sanded already.
PLA should not be exposed to extreme heat, so please keep your faux treats away from hot car dashboards, heaters, ovens, etc.
